He jumps to conclusions too quickly. Thinks you are wrong at all times and you are treading on toes when speaking to him. Does not follow through with what is important to the patient.DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

This is my 93 year old mother's m.d. He has treated her arthritis for years. Recently she began experiencing extreme hip pain. He took x-rays which showed severe arthritis and told her she would be a candidate for replacement. He told her he would refer her to an orthopedic surgeon in Orillia which it took him 6 months to do! Upon seeing the specialist yesterday, who advised her of her options, he told her that in the interim, while making a decision, she should definitely be on an anti-inflammatory medication, which should have been prescribed by her primary m.d. I called MacLennan's office to request an rx be sent to her pharmacy. The extremely rude staff member I spoke with (after having to call twice with no answer or message machine and a third time then being put on hold) insisted she come in to see MacLennan. This despite the fact he has treated her arthritis for years , having taken x-rays which should in themselves have justified the need for medication and pain relief to any competent m.d., AND that he was the one who referred her to the specialist in the first place! I reminded the staff of this and the fact that she is 93! Only upon my insistence they speak to the doctor did she agree to do so. Then they asked for the name of her pharmacy in case the doctor would agree to this. I said it was the same one they had on file from previous RXs. They said they "do not keep this information on file". WHAT? Today, I received a call back from the same rude and condescending staff member who stated MacLennan insists on seeing her before he can prescribe an anti-inflammatory. What an incompetent, insensitive, nincompoop!

In August of 2013, this doctor scheduled me for a series of four tests at various area facilities. Based on preliminary findings, he informed me that I had liver cancer and scheduled me for a detailed CT scan. When my regular physician, Dr. Paul O'Shaughnessey, returned from his holiday seven days later, he phoned to inform me the latest test indicated I did not have liver cancer. Earlier this year of 2018, I again saw Dr. MacLennan for a minor issue and anecdotally reminded him of his earlier advice regarding my "issue" with liver cancer. He emphatically stated that he'd said no such thing, then immediately searched through my online medical record and spent several minutes to read and edit while I watched. Being told you have cancer of any type is something you do not forget and Dr. O'Shaughnessy's follow-up call did occur.

Nothing positive to say. He as well as his front desk staff are cold unapproachable and unwelcoming. Have been this way for the 9 years my family and I have been his patients. Hardly ever in the office. Difficult to speak and converse with. Seems like you are a bother and ever seems to want to help. Not a "family physician"

I can't believe there are any positive reviews in here for Dr. MacLennan. He is a horrible doctor and known in gravenhurst for his poor bedside manner, not listening to patients and outright dismissing patients trying to explain pain / issues. Do your research before going to this doctor, a quick google search will reinforce all of these points.

Punctual because he treats patients like parts of an assembly line. Pills do cure everything, if not take more of them. Expect any diagnosis to come from the coroner.

also..needs to relax. Be more caring and understanding. Treat the patient and not just the symptoms. Otherwise nice guy..bit arrogant.
