Dr. Cartagena handed me a prescription for 'chronic migraines' after a one time worst headache of my life. Appropriate tests were run, but she did not lay a hand on me during any of the assessments. Had she done so she may have realized, like later health care professionals did, that the muscles in my neck and upper back were incredibly tense and probably the sole cause of this headache. Not helpful. Disappointing.

Went on maternity leave, but didn't tell me until a couple of weeks before she was due to go. No one is taking over her patients, and the only other neurologist in the city who specializes in my condition has a 2 year waiting list. This is absolutely inexcusable, and horrible patient care to not give me more notice, when it was obviously very possible to do so.

I have never had a doctor who was so willing to explain in depth about what is happening, why it’s happening, and what can be done. She showed me all my scans so I could better understand my condition (never had a doctor sit down and do that before). She is willing to help every step of the way. We need more doctors like Dr. Cartagena. After my appointment I had a sense of hope that I am and will feel better with the insight she offered me and the next steps we made.
