When dealing with my teenage daughter, I think he overestimated her ability to take responsibility for her own care. My daughter needed my help, but was told she was an adult, which she is really not. For this reason, she left the appointment not knowing if she needed a follow up , and unsure of her next step. The office called her 2 days later on her {MY} cell phone to give her instructions she had not understood and had already forgotten. This is very frustrating to me as the parent of a slow youth
