It was the middle of the night. That's when an unsuspected, aortic aneurysm burst wide open. I was 64 years old, overweight and out of shape. With less than a 10% chance of surviving the 35 mile ambulance trip, to Hamilton, everyone thought I was a "goner." But, not so! Dr. Szalay was alerted and an operating team was quickly assembled. They were ready for me, when I arrived at the Emergency entrance. This significant surgical repair was unexpectedly complicated by the unlikely location of the aneurysm and an increased risk of associated organ damage. Keenly assessing the situation, DR. Szalay employed both precision and innovation, as he skillfully and successfully eased me from the grip of death and on to a complete recovery. In the lottery of life, I couldn't have been more fortunate than to have had Dr. Szalay at my side, on that fateful day. Since then, on successive follow-up examinations, he has shown both professional friendliness and ongoing caring. He's the best -- of course, I recommend him!
