Dr. Arruda is the first ENT specialist who really listened to my husband regarding his sinus and nose problem. He put my husband at ease. Dr. Arruda examined him and explained what was happening and what could be done about it. He didn't dismiss my husband's concerns as others have in the past. My husband tried the things that Dr. Arruda instructed him to do and this morning he is 75% better than yesterday. Dr. Arruda told us that it would take a little while but this should clear up the problem. We are really pleased with the results already and I will post again if he is much better in a week's time.

Dr. Arruda was very helpful to me. He heard my health issues and knew immediately what was wrong. Nasal Polyps. He did not give me false hope that my sense of smell would return. It had been totally gone for 3 years. After 4 days of following his treatment, I can smell and taste again. Life is good!

I have ongoing parathyroid issues. Dr. Arrud took the time to explain why surgery is not an option at this time and ordered genetic testing to see shy I am plagued with this condition. His receptionist was more than willing to fit me in when my symptoms worsened. If I meed to wait as he talks to one patient I know he will take the time to listen to me.

Dr. Arruda saved my mother's life. He took the time to apprise my brother and me of the details and risks of surgery the night before her operation. He answered our questions honestly. I and my family are forever grateful to Dr. Arruda

His staff, Alannah, is your first contact with Dr. Arruda and she is efficient, friendly and greets you in a way that let's you know she really likes her job.

He didn’t have the time of day for me. Sat in waiting room for an hour then when he saw me he rushed through it and was offended that I was wasting his time when I asked a question. He was mad when I gagged on his camera. He handed me a sheet of paper describing my disease then rushed me out. When I asked about the ringing in my ears he said “get your hearing checked”. Excuse me for thinking that might be something an ent doctor might do. He gave me less than 10 minutes of his time and was offended that I took that much. I waited for many months to get in to see him, waited another hour in the waiting room, then got a begrudged 10 minutes.

I had a consultation regarding an issue that I have been suffering with for quite a while. I did not have to wait very long and was seen promptly. I was able to discuss my problem and any questions I had were answered without hesitation. I have to say my experience was great. The office was clean, organized and professional. Not happy at all, I have no idea when I would have been seen but after 45 mins and 4 or 5 patients ahead (several desks in area, I didn't know walking in that everyone was waiting for the same doctor) of me waiting ( I was there 10 minutes before appt.) I walked out. There were no emergencies just normal bookings, looked and felt like this was a common occurrence as the secretary didn't mention the hour wait, I had an expired parking meter to consider, I was also going to late for work, any doctor that runs their office like that I'm sorry I just don't put up with that. My time is valuable too, would he want me showing up an hour late? ( not that it would matter ). Would he the Dr. appreciate waiting that long if HE had an appointment with someone? I fully understand delays do happen but I see far too many specialists over book and let the patients wait it out. That's not a doctor for me, more people should speak up.

I have to agree with the first poster. He's rather taciturn in his communication but I had zero reservations about his qualifications as a surgeon. He has that very detached clinical attitude, but he's very professional. I did however have several complications with the surgery - not his fault, so far as I know - but when I saw him a week later to get the stints out he was quite abrupt and didn't ask me any followup question about my experience or was really forthcoming with any information about things to do and avoid post-surgery and what to expect for healing times, etc. He certainly needs to brush up on his communication skills with his patients in this regard. Also, after watching some other videos online of other patients getting removed all their ENTs took great care in draining and inspecting their noses. He did nothing like that. Removed the stints took a 2 second look with his little camera and said 'See you in a month.' Seriously? I've been having problems since the surgery and think I'm going to ask my family doctor for a referrel to someone else to check on my nose because I don't have complete faith in him at this point. I would not recommend turbinate reduction unless it's causing you major problems because even though most surgeries work great for most people there are some serious potential problems with it that were not explained to me by either of the 2 ENTs I saw prior to making a decision. Don't let them gloss over or downplay the problems, but really grill them on it.

At the initial visit, I found this doctor to be a little awkward. He tried to explain the surgery process as good as he could, but compare to many other doctors i have visited, he locks in terms of communication.. possibly he can improve over time.. At the day of surgery he didn't even say a word to me, not even in the operating room, being it my 6th surgery, I found it a little odd.. he just sat in the corner and just before I went under, he left the room... the second day I was the only one left, out of all the patients on the whole floor, before he discharged me, over the phone, didn’t even come in to see how I am doing, I know it’s not a major surgery, but still.. I am not impressed with this doctor at all .. and would not recommend him to anyone.. let's just hope I'll be more satisfied with the outcome of the surgery.

It was very evident from the first five minutes of my first appointment that Dr. Arruda is a very knowledgeable and experienced doctor. I was further impressed to learn that Dr. Arruda happens to possess a very kind and patient bedside manner. In my experience with doctors it is a rare combination to have a doctor who both knows what they are doing and has a great bedside manner. I have never waited for my appointment, nor have I been rushed in or out of his office. Dr. Arruda goes the extra mile to clearly and comprehensively through the use of electronic visual aides explain the cause of, and course of treatment for, every complaint I have presented in his office with. My sinus issues have been successfully treated without surgery (which I was told by two previous doctors I would almost definitely need). Both my Mother and my son are also patients of Dr. Arruda and have received nothing but the highest quality of care.

Was referred to him re eye pain, along with neck pain. He is a pro, that is for sure. A no nonsense doctor who listens and keep going after the problem. No quit in this chap. Has a good medical background and is proud of his station in life, that of being an excellent doctor.

Eric Aruda is very engaging, articulate and intelligent. His questions, notes and diagnosis were very thorough and integrative. He was not rushed, gave specific instruction for treatment and follow-up. As an aside, his dress and office are very professional, which is another sign of well integrated thought and behaviour.

As being a retired nurse who worked in E.N.T. for many years, I now am retired from this field. I was sent to Sunnybrook Hospital, by referral of my Family Doctor, to the E.N.T. clinic. I had extensive build of wax, and a severe case of unsteadiness on my feet because of it. Dr.E Arruda was so kind and empathetic towards me as a patient. He was so patient and kind to me in every way. He explained the procedure, and was an amazing listener to what I had to say. I can honestly say I have never met a kinder, patient, empathetic Dr. in all my years of working in medicine. He also made sure before I left the Hospital that I would be followed up on a regular bases. I truly know he is a intelligent Dr. 110%.
