I had been seeing Dr Gebremicael for 3.5 years prior to moving away out of province in August, however I removed my chart from Dr Gebremicael's practice long before then. I am not often fussy with the doctors I see as I know each one does things differently, and I respect that. However the events that ensued over the previous 3.5 years is nothing short of negligent, lazy and all around atrocious. First off, I have had multiple spine surgeries in which I have chronic pain for and take a strong narcotic medication fairly seldom for it. When I first started seeing Dr Gebremicael, I told him about the medications and he told me that whenever I needed a refill, let him and know and he would prescribe them. I had the same prescription & pills since 2015, and in late 2017 I asked for a refill of said prescription. He refused my request, stating he did not believe in the use of narcotic medication (I'm sorry, you're an MD not an ND, what?) and instead insinuated that my chronic pain was neuropathic and put me on an antidepressant, Cymbalta, specifically. He told me he would refer me to a pain clinic for a consult and to better manage my pain, however it is now over a year later & that clinic has not even called me. Why? He never submitted the referral. How do I know? I have my medical chart, and let me tell you a lot of what he said he'd do is missing. Next. April 13 2018 I was involved in a very serious pedestrian vs car accident (I was the pedestrian) and spent 8 hours in a trauma centre. I followed up with Dr Gebremicael a week later as instructed by the specialists to get follow up scans (x-rays, MRI, CT), blood work & some psychological support. He was also to refer me to get an ultrasound as the one done at the trauma centre identified a large mass on my right ovary. Dr Gebremicael said he would submit the referrals, but when I called the office I was told that a referral was never placed, nor is a copy even in my chart. Dr Gebremicael also told me that a follow up ultrasound was not necessary and that I would only need to follow up in 3 months. In July I was brought to Lakeridge Health Oshawa emergency room 2 times for severe pain in my lower right abdomen. Ultrasound imaging showed a large ovarian cyst with vascularity - meaning it could have been cancer. His lack of care towards this resulted in me requiring emergency surgery from Markham Stouffville Hospital after yet another emergency room visit - this all could have been prevented if Dr Gebremicael cared enough to do his due diligence in my care. When I approached Dr Gebremicael for weight loss, he recommended me to bariatric surgery at UHN (which was an absolute slap in the face to me) - he submitted the referral despite my request for him not too after I had thought about it despite me agreeing initially. He then prescribed me Victoza and unethically indicated that it was for management of diabetes (??). None of this is in my medical charts - there is no record of any of these interactions; no record of my car accident in his records, no record of my surgery, no record of anything except him thinking I am a drug seeker because I asked him for medications that I have been taking since 2013 for my chronic pain. Dr Gebremicael, shame on you. Shame on you for spoiling my trust in all physicians. You need to do better. To future patients of Dr Gebremicael, be careful. Get everything in writing. And please seriously consider finding a different doctor.

Dr. Gebremicael is the best ever. I am so thankful to have him as my doctor. My last doctor retired after 32 years and I never dreamt to finding such a great doctor Thank you so much for being a caring and wonderful doctor. Wonderful reception, Joanne. Amazing!

My husband,daughter,son-in-law and their 3 little children feel so lucky to have such a wonderful, Dr. who is so caring, so knowledgeable & a very patient Dr. who listens to our concerns and deals with them so efficiently. He is wonderful with the children, they love to go to see him and say we like Dr. Gebremicael, he is so nice. They like to pick the stickers he gives them. He is such a gentleman and so courteous. He is very prompt but never rushes you. His secretary is the greatest too. Full marks to them all at the clinic.
