Back in 2000 I was at the Ottawa General Hospital fighting AML with very slim chances to survive. My left forearm suddenly got bad inflammation and I was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome. Everything happened so quickly (few hours) and I have been told there is huge possibility from me to lose my left forearm. He came to my room at 2 am same night and mentioned he will do his best to try save my arm. It had to be done right away. I strongly believe Dr. Giachino was instructed to amputate the arm. He performed 3 surgeries within 32 hours. He saved both – my arm and my life. Less than 2 months after the surgery I have regained almost full functionality of the left arm. In conversation with other Doctors they mentioned what he has done was a real miracle.

Dr. Giachino is such a caring and compassionate orthopedic surgeon. He's excellent! He always makes you feel comfortable even in O.R.. His work is excellent...and he has done extensive work on me. I recommend him to anyone who needs an orthopedic surgeon. His specialty is knees but he has also done my hips, my tendons that operate my fingers, fixed both of my wrists, and some toes. The list goes on... I am extremely happy with all of his surgical work and he has made life so much easier for me. I do recommend him highly. If you read this Dr. Giachino...thank you from the bottom of my heart. E.B.
