Having Degenerative Disc Disease which is inherited has made me an extremely difficult patient to deal with. We are all very fortunate to have a life threatening disease and be able to be assessed and given the right amount of medication to give one their lives back to them. It is so important that everyone with a disease that leaves them bed ridden and wanting to die to have access to the very few and far between Doctors who are willing to put their lively hood and their License to Practice and prescribe on the line...and this is what Dr. Joel Bordman is all about. I was sent to see him because I told a fib to my new pain clinic Doc about eating Marijuana for a very good reason which is far to much to put into words but trust me it was a very good reason, regardless when I went to see Dr. Bordman the first thing they ask you to do is pee in front of a camera??? What happened to yours or my Dignity?,,,after reading how addicts try to fool the screening tests I can understand it but I have a disease and am not an addict and shouldn't have to do this?! When I saw him he asked me to undress so he could check me for needle marks and to make sure I had on the correct amount of Fentayl patches on and passed me and I was sent back to my Pain Clinic Doc who after waiting five years for a Sub-Specialist to remodel my Heel Bone which was shattered into four peices, he decides it is time to reduce the meds I have been on for 15 years...I asked to what and he told me to 1/4 of what I have taken all of these years!!!! He seems to think that if you are already on a hefty dose of Opiates then with new pain you shouldn't feel pain???? Or the lower you go while reducing your med's that the under lying pain that I worked two years to set up "My personal pain management program" for is not going to return...wrong and he won't listen to me and states that if I don't like it find another Doctor, which if you are lucky enough to find one he or she would have a two to three year waiting list. So by the time I got to see another Doc he will have succeeded in his quest and I will be about ready to die again and he will get out of the business. I have an appointment with him on Monday to see if he can send me to someone who cares about his patients and who has at the very least one ounce of compassion. I have had 9 surgeries since 1991, five open Lubar surgeries and have had every Lumbar disc's done, some a couple of times, all of which have failed to stop the Degeneration of my Disc's and now it has moved up to my Cervical Disc's which is growing bone into my Foremen holes and pinching my spinal column and affecting the entire left side of my body. I am also waiting for surgery in Feb. to repair a Tendon I tore off the elbow 9 months ago, for which I have had MRI's done for both issue's but this Pain in the ass Doctor is still reducing my meds??? I sure Dr. Bordman can help me because if he can't no one can. This man gets 5 stars in my book for understanding his trade but most of all his people and we all need more Doc's like him.
