Dr. Colin Shapiro has been my sleep specialist for a few years. He found the condition 'sexsomnia' and has made massive international related changes. I find Dr. Shapiro caring, very knowledgable and competent. Highly recommended!!

Dr. Shapiro scolded me when I entered his office today. He stated he had no time for me, then I got the lecture about how it was my responsibility to arrange my sleep studies every 2 years and my yearly follow up visits with him. I knew that and was not sure why he seemed angry. He then said it had been too long since my last sleep study. I was sure it had been within 2 years. He phoned the sleep lab and found out it was 2012 since my last one. As he was dictating, I noticed he had my family md`s name wrong. I interrupted him and learned he was looking at the wrong patient`s chart, not mine. He quickly wrote my prescription, and did apologize. As I was at the elevator I saw the script was lacking information (I am a nurse) so I went back to him and he fixed it. As I was standing waiting for the elevator, he approached me and said I should have listened more closely when he said my (wrong) name. I felt very picked on and he did not seem all that caring that I was blamed for a few things I was innocent of. I made my appointment on time, myself. I had my sleep study in 2014, last year. I waited 1 1/4 hours for him without complaint. I left with the worst feeling I have ever had and since I work in the health care system, I know this is not how to treat anyone. There is a standard that is expected in the profession and he failed today. I will ask my GP to find me another sleep specialist. Would he have treated a male the same way???
