My husband had to change doctors because his doctor retired.I helped him choose a new one ( I am a retired nurse)After a few visits,I became impressed by Dr. Shams as a diagnostician. He was very thorough in explaining everything in lay language to my husband. He followed through on all the results of the tests. I believe he truly cares about his patients. Most of all he listens and is easy to talk to.

My regular doctor opted to become a specialist so Dr Shams was recommended to me. I have seen him twice and noted he is in a hurry to get through the visit on both occasions. Came in with a piece of glass stuck in my foot. Saw me for 90 seconds. Sent me to xrays (xrays won't show a piece of glass unless the glass has lead content). Referred me to a foot specialist at a cost of $70 as OHIP does not fully cover foot specialists. I'm still waiting for this appointment. After 1 week of pain, I still have a piece of glass stuck in my foot and am going to find another doctor who will remove it under OHIP coverage or I will remove it myself. Dr Shams disappointed me. He could have removed this small glass shard within 5 minutes but instead he just circulated me and left me in pain. In the meantime that all of this was happening I received zero communication as to whehter the xray showed anything or why I was being sent to a foot specialist. His staff was curt and rude to me. The only positive thing I can say is that I did not have to wait long to see him. No wonder. He doesn't ask any quesitons, just wants to get you out of his office.
