I finally have the courage to speak up about my experience with Dr. Herman over 10 years ago before my very first invasive procedure. I was young and scared and Dr. Herman made a procedure that should have been routine, a traumatic one. He talked me out of anesthesia and I just got general freezing. I begged for it as the procedure started and it was obvious from the first second that this would be hell but they said it was too late. He made sure to emphasize that I would have to be monitored for the rest of my life but that the procedure was not a big deal. This was grossly exaggerated as I have only had to have a yearly physical except for a few years after the procedure I had a 6 month checkup. It was the most painful experience of my life and I have never forgotten that he took advantage of a young girl needing guidance on how to proceed. I am sure he just wanted to free up some time for either himself or his team and had no regard for patient comfort for my very first invasive procedure of my life. Anyone meeting with Dr. Herman needs to advocate for themselves and do not let him talk you out of anesthesia for his convenience or to save some of his budget. Have someone else present also for moral support because he certainly won't have any for you.
